Winter edition: Rooftop tour with tastings
The Rotterdam Rooftop Tour will celebrate its 5th anniversary in 2023 with a special winter edition. Because even though the rooftops and the city are less sunny in this season, the views at different city levels remain enchanting.
In the winter of 2023, led by a fun rooftop guide, visit three multi-purpose rooftops with a special story. At the start of the tour you will be welcomed with a warm drink and you will end the tour with drinks and snacks at the Groot Handelsgebouw.
The roofs
From the roof of the new Motel One on Grotekerkplein, you’ll have stunning 360˚ views of old and new rooftops in downtown. On the Dakakker, the vegetable garden is hibernating, but this first and largest urban agriculture roof in the Netherlands remains a source of inspiration. The top floor of the Groot Handelsgebouw was an attraction roof for the whole family this summer. During the winter edition of this rooftop tour, look out from the roof of this iconic Reconstruction building to the futuristic silver canopy of Central Station, among other things.

A collaboration with Esther Wienese
Esther Wienese, is the author of The Rotterdam Rooftop Book, new uses of roof and city (first edition 2017, second edition 2019). With her book, she not only wants to show beautiful examples, but inspire anyone with a roof to do something special with it. In this tour you will visit some of the rooftops from her successful book. You can see what is already happening here and there on the rooftops and a fun and knowledgeable guide will tell you what the city’s ambitions are. Along the way you will enjoy beautiful views of the skyline of Rotterdam.
