Rotterdam is our canvas. We live here and we are proud of all the beauty and impressiveness we get to share with you. But we also see the challenges this city faces. Challenges like inequality, poverty, growing homelessness, crime and so on. Lets not look away from this, together we are the city and we make the city.
Rotterdam is the poorest big city in the Netherlands. 15.5% of Rotterdam’s population lives in poverty and this number is unfortunately growing and growing.
In 2024 we, as Inside Rotterdam, are specifically looking at ways to give less fortunate Rotterdammers a helping hand. This year, in various ways, we will raise money to fight poverty in the city.
Social doctor Michelle Tongerloo recently set up the foundation How Can I Help You? Through this demand-driven platform, she raises money to help people in difficult situations who need concrete aid. No complicated strategies, but super concrete: warm winter coats for children, a visit to a dentist for a formerly homeless person or a mini-holiday for a poor family.
Through our website’s check-out form, you have the opportunity to donate a small amount to this foundation. 100% of your donation will go to one of the following destinations: homelessness, medical care, working poor and undocumented.
Once a quarter, we will let you know via our newsletter and social media what your donations have been used for and who you have helped.
